Presidential search forums give community chance to be heard

At the request of BU Trustee Earle Cooley (LAW’57), chairman of the BU Presidential Search Committee, two open forums will be held on the Charles River Campus on Wednesday, April 2. An afternoon session for faculty and staff will take place in the LAW Auditorium from 3 to 5 p.m., and a session open to BU alumni will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Media Conference Room in the Office of Development and Alumni Relations at One Sherborn St., seventh floor.

The sessions will be held by John Isaacson, president of Isaacson, Miller, the firm overseeing the search.

According to BU Executive Vice President Joseph Mercurio, who is a member of the Search Committee, the committee wants the search firm to hear from the many constituencies that make up the University community, among them BU students, employees, and alumni. A forum for students was held on March 3. The forums are an occasion to share suggestions and opinions regarding the opportunities and challenges facing the University.

“The chairman and members of the Search Committee are anxious to hear directly from the community,” says Mercurio. “The Search Committee feels that it is important to learn as much as possible about the priorities and the expectations of all members of the Boston University community.”
