Opus 90. Area musicians, artists, educators, and friends recently gathered
to wish composer Gardner Read a happy 90th birthday. Read came to BU in
1948 as a composer in residence and professor of composition and taught
at the University for 30 years. His birthday has been marked by concerts
and special broadcasts. Melissa de Graaf (above), a graduate student in
the Brandeis University music department, greets the maestro at his party.
