Jeffrey N. Babcock, CFA dean, presented this year's Kahn Career Entry Awards to (from left) Daniel Zaitchik, Joseph Marino "Jomar" Statkun, and Daniel Han at a May 17 cocktail reception for CFA alumni celebrating 25th and 50th reunions. The winners each receive cash awards of $15,000. Established in 1985 by benefactor Esther B. Kahn (SED'55, Hon.'86), the award is given to exceptional undergraduate and graduate students from CFA's schools of music, visual arts, and theatre arts. Zaitchik, who received a B.F.A. in theatre arts, will use his award to attend voice workshops in Turkey this summer and to record a musical theatrical work he began at CFA. Statkun, who received an M.F.A. in painting, will take up residence at the Anteneo Gallery in Manila, where he will explore his Filipino heritage, study contemporary art, and nurture a more expansive dialogue between young artists in Asia and America. Han, who previously received his bachelor's and master's in music from CFA studying violin with Roman Totenberg, earned an artist diploma in performance this spring. He will use his grant to engage in international violin competitions in Italy, Germany, and Japan. Photo by Fred Sway
