Angelo Bertocci (CAS'27), who in 1948 joined the English department in the College of Arts and Sciences as a professor and chairman of comparative literature and taught until 1966, died on April 18. He was 95. In his 1990 memoir, entitled Teacher from Little Italy, he describes a "love affair" with what was then known as the College of Liberal Arts. "I have always believed in liberal education as the support of the best qualities of mind and heart," he wrote, "and I have taught with that aim in view." This 1961 photo reflects the sentiments of Herbert Golden (CAS'41, GRS'42), a CAS professor emeritus of romance languages, who recently wrote that Bertocci's students thought he was "dynamic in the classroom. He put a lot of enthusiasm into his teaching." Photo by BU Photo Services
