Man of the Moment: Kitty Carlisle Hart (center) spoke to the Friends of the Libraries and their guests on March 5 at GSU's Metcalf Hall at a preview of The Fairbanks Legacy: The Archives of Douglas Fairbanks, Jr. The Special Collections exhibition features letters, photographs, manuscripts, articles, and other memorabilia of the son of the famed swashbuckling silent film star. As well as being a Hollywood actor, the younger Fairbanks (1909-2000) distinguished himself as a war hero and in public service. He once said, "I never tried to emulate my father. Anyone trying to do that would be a second-rate carbon copy. I was determined to be my own man." The exhibition has an extended run until May 2003 on the main floor of Mugar Memorial Library.
