A Great World House: Joining in King Day 2002, BU's 17th annual commemoration of Martin Luther King, Jr. (GRS'55, Hon.'59), on Monday, January 21, was keynote speaker Farouk El-Baz, a research professor and director of BU's Center for Remote Sensing. "King called for us to continue discussion and give up hate," he said in referring to the September 11 attacks and the Taliban's and Al Qaeda's tainting of Islamic teachings. He praised King as a man of great humanity and said, "We should reflect on September 11 and remember what he said about religious tolerance and see what we can do now [to establish the] new normalcy."
