How to score with the readers: Nationally acclaimed sportswriters Jack Falla (COM'67,'90) (above) and Charles Pierce will speak about Sports Reporting as Literature as part of COM's spring Advanced Journalism Studies seminar, on Wednesday, April 11, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the College of Communication, Room 317. Falla, an adjunct professor at COM and author of the critically acclaimed book Home Ice: Reflections on Backyard Rinks and Frozen Ponds (McGregor, 2000), has written cover stories for Sports Illustrated and is a frequent contributor to Bostonia magazine. Pierce, a writer-at-large for Esquire and commentator on NPR's Only a Game, recently released his latest collection of sports stories, coauthored with Roy Blount, Jr., entitled Sports Guy: In Search of Corkball, Warroad Hockey, Hooters Golf, Tiger Woods, and the Big, Big Game (Da Capo, 2000). The two-hour seminar is free and open to the BU community. Photo by Kalman Zabarsky
