Picture this . . . "It's simply the best camera in the world," Ulrich Mack, SFA artist-in-residence, (left) told BU President Jon Westling. Westling is holding a Leica M6 TTL rangefinder camera, inscribed with Boston University on top of the body. Leica Camera, Inc., executives Steffan Gold (right), director of marketing services, Germany, and Ralph Hagenauer, director of marketing, presented the University with six M6 TTL camera bodies and a variety of eight lenses just prior to intersession, prompting Westling to comment, "It's Christmas for Mack. A great photographer and great equipment to match. We're very grateful to Leica." The donation of $50,000 in camera equipment stems from Mack's long-term relationship with Leica. "Mack has introduced some very famous students to Leica," said Gold, "and we want to continue that with his students at Boston University." Known for quality optics, quiet operation, and precision manufacturing, Leica is the camera of choice for nature, art, and professional photographers throughout the world. Photo by Maike Schulz |
