Article Holiday Party to feature centerpiece decorating contestBoston University's Holiday Party, open to all faculty and staff of the Charles River and Medical campuses, will be held on Tuesday, December 21, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Metcalf Hall in the George Sherman Union. Transportation will be provided from the Medical Campus. New to this year's party is a table centerpiece decorating contest, based on the theme of the event, A World Celebration. Competitors have the option of creating their centerpieces at the Office of Personnel on the evenings of Thursday, December 16, and/or Monday, December 20. They may also craft them at their convenience at another location. The centerpieces must be between 24 and 48 inches high, and no wider than 30 inches. Teams are allowed to spend a maximum of $75 for centerpiece supplies, for which they will be reimbursed through the Office of Personnel. The creations will be judged on originality, relevance to theme, aesthetic value, and adherence to guidelines. Two sets of prizes will be awarded, and the winners will be determined by a popular vote and by a judges' vote. Each member of the winning teams will receive a $25 gift certificate from Barnes & Noble. To register or to obtain more details, please contact Paul Rizzi in the Office of Personnel, at 353-4044 or by e-mail at prizzi@bu.edu, by Monday, December 13. There is a limit of 12 teams, with a maximum of 5 people per team. Teams will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. |
