HRH Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, visited the
Photonics Center on September 21, shortly after his
arrival in Boston for a five-day stay. Photonics
Center Director Donald Fraser accompanied him on a
tour of the center. Prince Andrew, who has a
long-standing interest in technology, is pictured
in the Picosecond Spectronomy Lab at a probe
station that tests resonant cavity enhanced photo
detectors. The photo detectors are used to improve
the quality of optical fiber-based communication.
