Former marketing exec named assistant dean at SMG
The Boston University School of Management recently appointed Jennifer Lawrence, a faculty member and former vice president of marketing at Reebok International, to the new position of assistant dean for career services.

"Jennifer Lawrence brings an outstanding marketing track record to the Feld Career Center," says SMG Dean Louis Lataif. "I'm confident her expertise will translate into great success for our undergraduate and graduate students as they move into the business world."

An adjunct assistant professor of marketing at SMG since 1995, Lawrence has been consistently rated by students as one of the best faculty members, excelling in teaching, in course development, and in coaching and counseling her students.

At Reebok, Lawrence headed marketing for the Rockport brand and had also been director of marketing for the walking division.

Lawrence is a cum laude graduate of Bryn Mawr College and received her MBA from Harvard University.

Two new food franchises open in Union Court
BU has acquired 4,200 new freshmen and lost one Freshëns. The ice cream parlor, whose sales had been slackening recently, closed down to clear the way for Ben & Jerry's, one of two franchises debuting this fall in the George Sherman Union. It joins Tuscan Oven, an Italian food vendor that replaces Pizza Hut and That's a Wrap.

The decision to give Ben & Jerry's, a popular Vermont-based ice cream producer, a permanent seat on the court was based on interviews with thousands of students, according to Alan Leo, director of Dining Services. Leo adds that the presence of Tuscan Oven, which will be nearly twice the size of Pizza Hut and will serve by the slice, should shorten and accelerate lines at lunch time.
