Eastman Kodak Company has selected the film program at the College of Communication to receive a Kodak Product Grant: $2,000 worth of motion picture film. The film stock is awarded to the school, says Assistant Professor Sam Kauffmann, director of film production programs, "and we give it to a select group of students to help them achieve their vision."

Nominations sought for Distinguished Service Awards
The deadline for nominations for the 1999 John S. Perkins Distinguished Service Awards of the Faculty Council is Friday, February 26. The awards are presented annually by the Council to three members of the BU family in recognition of distinguished service to the University. They carry a prize of $500 and a plaque recognizing the service of the recipient.

Those eligible include all associated with Boston University (administration, alumni, benefactors, staff, students, trustees, and others) except for members of the faculty, who, through their elected representatives, will be presenting the awards to those who have served the University with distinction and made important contributions toward its goals.

Established by the Faculty Council in 1981, the awards have been sponsored since 1984 by John S. Perkins (SMG'36), who has served the University for more than 50 years in various capacities, as faculty member, administrator, trustee, and treasurer. The awards will be presented in a special ceremony this spring. Nomination forms have been distributed to members of the faculty at their campus addresses. For more information, call the Faculty Council office at 353-2135.

Service Recognition Dinner to be held April 22
Each year, at the annual Service Recognition Dinner, BU honors faculty and staff who have completed 10 and 25 years of service, as well as employees who are retiring. This year the dinner will be held on April 22 at Metcalf Hall in the George Sherman Union.

Invitations will be mailed in March to employees who will have completed 10 and 25 years of service by June 30, 1999, and to those planning to retire. To be included in this year's program, eligible retiring employees who have not yet notified their dean or vice president may call Thomas Bagarella in the Office of Personnel, at 353-4483 no later than March 12, 1999. Those who plan to retire this year and wish to be recognized at this year's dinner must be at least 55 years old and have completed 10 years of service by June 30, 1999.

Those with questions about eligibility or who need further information can contact their employee relations representative or Bagarella in the Office of Personnel.
