Griselda Ocana and her daughter, Jennifer,
participate in the Intergenerational Literacy
Project (ILP), one of the first initiatives of the
BU/Chelsea Schools Partnership. Ocana, a native of
Guatemala, delivered a speech at the ILP's 10-year
celebration last month, which was attended by more
than 400 people. Since 1988, the year BU began
running Chelsea's public schools, the ILP has
worked with more than 3,000 family members, many of
