Almost 300 first- and second-year MBA students at the School of Management helped beautify the Charles River Esplanade directly behind the SMG building as part of Volunteer Day, a full day of community service, on September 2. Teams of volunteers cut down overgrown shrubs, cleaned up litter, pruned trees, planted bulbs, and painted benches, with materials supplied by the Metropolitan District Commission. The event was organized by SMG's local chapter of Students for Responsible Business as a way to give back to the community in which they have lived during their MBA program. Members of the group integrate issues of social responsibility into their business school experience and careers. Pictured is first-year MBA student Gina Woiteshek, from Atlanta, Ga.
