Students, staff, and faculty join the BU Office for the Arts every fall, along with over 25 BU Arts programs, academic units, and selected Boston-area arts organizations, to explore all that BU and Boston have to offer.

The resource fair offers discounts, special offers, internship opportunities, and more! BU students also have a chance to sign up for a raffle to receive a $75 Coolidge Corner Theatre gift card only during the Arts Fair.

Boston Area Organizations

The Boston Symphony Orchestra gave its inaugural concert in 1881. Today, the BSO reaches millions of listeners not only through our concert performances in Boston and at Tanglewood, but also through educational and community programs, radio, television, recordings, and tours.

The Boston Comic Arts Foundation champions the comics art form, increasing excitement about and engagement with the comics medium to create opportunities for more comics, more comics readers, and more support for comics creators. BCAF increases access to comics by providing high-quality events and educational opportunities, which are free and open to all, and is committed to fostering equity in a community of authors and readers that includes all voices.

Broadway in Boston is the leading presenter of touring Broadway in New England, bringing world-class theatrical productions to Boston at the historic Citizens Opera House and the Emerson Colonial Theatre.

The ICA/Boston is a contemporary art museum located on Boston Harbor. The ICA has advanced a bold vision for amplifying the artist’s voice and expanding the museum’s role as educator, incubator, and convener. Its exhibitions, performances, and educational programs provide access to the breadth and diversity of contemporary art, artists, and the creative process, inviting audiences of all ages and backgrounds to participate in the excitement of new art and ideas.

The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum is an art museum founded by Isabella Stewart Gardner in 1903. Isabella Stewart Gardner’s collection of 18,000+ objects spans thousands of years and five continents and includes paintings, sculptures, furniture, archives, books, textiles, and more. There will be a raffle for an Under 30 Membership.

Jean Appolon Expressions (JAE) is a Haitian folkloric and contemporary-infused dance organization that cultivates hope and healing to foster more expressive and socially just communities through professional performances, education, cultural experiences, and the celebration of the joy of movement for all. We invite you to visit us at our new home in Roxbury, the JAE Dance Center, where we’re cultivating new programs and partnerships with like-minded organizations.

The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston welcomes college students and faculty to engage deeply with its collections, exhibitions, programs, and spaces. Learn about upcoming fall programs including Museum Careers Night, College Night, and the MFA Pathways Internship Program. Whether connecting with the Museum as part of a class or with friends and family, the MFA offers many ways to deepen learning, inspire curiosity, and connect with others. The MFA be giving away MFA stickers and pins at the Fall Arts Fair and is free to all BU students, staff, and faculty.

The New England Philharmonic (NEP) is a Boston-based volunteer orchestra that performs several concerts each season at Boston University’s Tsai Performance Center. Known for its exciting mix of contemporary and traditional orchestral music, NEP regularly presents world premieres, commissions new works, and champions living composers alongside beloved classics. Students, faculty, staff, and community members are encouraged to attend concerts and learn more about joining the orchestra. NEP is always interested in hearing from prospective musicians, especially string players seeking a high-level orchestral experience.

The Peabody Essex Museum (PEM) is dedicated to creating a dynamic, human-centered museum experience that celebrates art, culture, and the interconnectedness of global creativity. As the oldest continuously operating museum in the United States, PEM offers thought-provoking experiences that explore the arts, humanities, and sciences. By presenting art in new and inclusive ways, the museum connects past and present while highlighting artistic and cultural achievements from around the world. PEM’s mission is to inspire understanding and imagination, promote learning through experimentation, and make its collections accessible to foster appreciation of the diverse histories and creativity that shape our world. Through a range of internships, PEM also provides opportunities for emerging professionals to engage with its collections, exhibitions, and programming, deepening their experience in the museum field.

A certified 501(c)(3), Unbound Visual Arts (UVA) is dedicated to strengthening Boston’s creative ecosystem through exhibitions, an annual residency, and performances.

Vivo Performing Arts was founded in 1938, formerly Celebrity Series of Boston-is a nonprofit performing arts presenter bringing jazz, classical, dance, folk, and more to venues across Greater Boston.

BU Organizations

BU Art Galleries is a vibrant resource of learning and cultural engagement for BU, the city of Boston, and the surrounding metro area. The galleries, which are free and open to the public, maintain ongoing rotating exhibitions that feature a wide scope of art from all ranges of mediums and artists.

The CAS Creative Writing Program is housed within the English department. We offer a variety of courses in creative writing and a creative writing minor for undergraduate students, as well as a one-year-long course of study for graduate students seeking their MFA.

The mission of the Center for Career Development is to engage students and alumni with innovative, accessible, and inclusive programming; through resource-rich career services grounded in empathy; and strategic partnerships to support career readiness. We work to empower all students and alumni to make intentional decisions about their professional futures, build connections with employers, and adapt to a changing world at BU and beyond.

BU’s undergraduate program in Cinema & Media Studies offers students a comprehensive education in the history, culture, aesthetics, and theory of moving-image media. We offer courses and extra-curricular events on a variety of film movements and genres, individual filmmakers, and a range of media, including national cinemas in Asia, Europe, North America, Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East.

The College of Fine Arts Dean’s Office provides comprehensive support and services to students within its three schools: the School of Music, the School of Theatre, and the School of Visual Arts. The Dean’s Office includes Student Services, the Registrar, and Financial Aid resources, ensuring students have the necessary tools and guidance to thrive both academically and personally.

Fitness & Recreation Center’s mission is to build a healthy community on BU’s campus and beyond. Through its dance program, FitRec offers dance technique, cultural and social dances, and aerial dance across multiple levels. Whether you’re looking to move for fitness, creativity, or cultural connection, we have a class for you — open to BU students and the Greater Boston community.

The undergraduate History of Art and Architecture concentration provides interdisciplinary preparation for graduate work in the humanities or social sciences. We also offer programs leading to the MA and PhD degrees, as well as a departmental certificate in Museum Studies. Graduates of the MA program work in museums and other cultural institutions or teach art history at the high school or junior college level, while doctoral program graduates teach at colleges, universities, and art schools throughout the country or hold curatorial positions at major museums!

The LGBTQIA+ Student Resource Center provides a gentle and affirming space for students to explore their identities and find community with one another. Through collaboration with BU departments and off-campus partners, the center provides programming and leadership opportunities that show students that there is life for them after graduation and equips them to lead in their chosen fields. The work of the center necessitates ensuring that it is only one of many places where LGBTQIA+ students feel welcome. Through relationship-building across BU’s three campuses, the center advocates for equitable policies and processes and models the importance of coalition-building in developing a just environment.

The Newbury Center opened its doors in January 2021 with the goal of fostering the holistic success of first-generation students at Boston University—students we refer to as “Terrier F1RSTS.” We aim to become a highly visible, transformative unit of the University, offering programming and services designed to ensure that first-generation students experience the same sense of well-being, belonging, self-efficacy, and academic accomplishment as their continuing-generation peers.

The CFA School of Music and BU Bands are a dynamic duo of music-making at Boston University, offering a vast musical community of exceptional resources and pedagogy within the broader context of our major research university. Students in our degree, diploma, certificate, and minor programs enjoy access to the largest and most advanced practice room facility in Greater Boston, academics and electives throughout the University curriculum, and ample opportunities for ensembles, chamber, and solo performance. We offer for-credit music lessons for non-majors, and BU Bands offers music ensembles for all levels and disciplines, open to everyone in the Boston University community – join us!

School of Theatre majors act in, design, manage, and produce a full season of plays and the occasional musical. BU Students have access to free tickets! BU College of Fine Arts School of Theatre is a nationally recognized program, with all the opportunities of a larger liberal arts university right at your fingertips. We believe each student is unique and should be able to pursue their individual interests while receiving strong foundational techniques within the art form. Valuing each student’s goals and gifts while furthering the conversation of diversity and inclusion makes the School of Theatre at Boston University College of Fine Arts a leading program in the country.

The School of Visual Arts (SVA), one of three academic schools within the College of Fine Arts at Boston University, fosters each student’s creative potential through a balance of rigorous studio training, critical dialogue, and open exploration. Rooted in inquiry and experimentation, SVA emphasizes experiential learning that builds expertise through concept, process, and critique.

Student Wellbeing is a BU campus-wide initiative to support students’ health and wellbeing during their time at BU. We believe that everyone deserves to feel good and that how students feel matters. We host workshops, programs, pop-ups, and shine a light on all the campus resources available to students.

Study Abroad allows students to explore international education through over 170 programs across 30 different cities worldwide. BU Study Abroad gives students the opportunity to participate in an internship, explore major or minor classes, or expand their language skills while immersed in a new culture.

Wheelock Family Theatre is a professional theatre for children and families operating under the College of Fine Arts at Boston University. We offer work-study job opportunities for BU students to work in our box office and front of house/ushers during our professional show season!
