EOP SL 030: Speaking and Listening 3
Expectations for this course include: Students can create and perform a dialogue and deliver a personal narrative in an intelligible way. Students can respond appropriately to spontaneous input from the teacher or other students in simple conversations on highly predictable topics. Students can extract key information from adapted audio materials 3-4 minutes in length on familiar, general interest topics and relate the listening to their personal lives. Students can follow and respond to a simple conversation. Students can do the above with written or visual supporting material, a modified speaker's pace, and a consistent need for pausing, repetition or clarification. -
EOP SL 040: Speaking and Listening 4
Expectations for this course include: Students can present on the life of a living or deceased person as well as a current event. Students can usually respond appropriately to spontaneous input from the teacher or other students in discussions on predictable topics. Students can extract key information from adapted audio materials 4-6 minutes in length on familiar, general interest topics and relate the listening to their personal lives. Students can follow and respond appropriately to a simple discussion with multiple participants. Students can do the above following a modified speaker's pace and with a consistent need for pausing, repetition or clarification. -
EOP SL 050: Speaking and Listening 5
Expectations for this course include: Students can use classification and definition organizational patterns to present on and discuss familiar topics in an intelligible way. Students can respond appropriately to spontaneous input from the teacher or other students in discussions. Students can extract key information from adapted audio/visual materials 6-8 minutes in length on familiar topics. Students can also relate the listening to their personal lives. Students can follow and respond appropriately to a simple discussion with multiple participants. Students can do the above following clear, standard speech with some need for support with repetition or clarification. -
EOP SL 060: Speaking and Listening 6
Expectations for this course include: Students can summarize and respond to a source with a focus on making personal connections to the information. Students can respond appropriately to spontaneous input from the teacher or other students in discussions. Students can extract key information from linguistically unadapted high school level audio/visual materials 8-10 minutes in length on familiar topics. Students can also relate the listening to their personal lives, following and responding appropriately to a discussion with multiple participants. Students can do the above following clear, standard speech and with some need for support with repetition or clarification. -
EOP SL 070: Speaking and Listening 7
Expectations for this course include: Students can present on an issue in an intelligible and fluent way, including the problems and proposing solutions, and incorporating information from at least one high school level listening or reading source. Students can respond appropriately to spontaneous input from the teacher or other students in academic discussions. Students can extract key information from linguistically unadapted, high school level audio/visual materials up to 10-12 minutes in length on unfamiliar topics. Students can also synthesize the listening with one other reading or listening text they have been previously exposed to. Students can follow and respond appropriately to an academic discussion with multiple participants. Students can do the above following clear, standard speech and with little need for support with repetition or clarification. -
EOP SL 080: Speaking and Listening 8
Expectations for this course include: Students can prepare for and present an argument incorporating information from multiple listening and reading sources in a 12-15 minute critical discussion with multiple participants in an intelligible and fluent way. Students can respond appropriately to spontaneous input from the teacher or other students in academic discussions. Students can extract key information from linguistically unadapted college level audio/visual materials on unfamiliar topics up to 12-15 minutes in length. Students can also synthesize the listening with other reading or listening texts they have been previously exposed to. Students can follow and respond appropriately to extended academic discussions with multiple participants and points of view. Students can do the above following clear, standard speech and with little need for support with repetition or clarification. -
EOP TP 037: TOEFL iBT Preparation 3
If you are preparing to take the internet-based TOEFL examination (iBT) for university admission, this course will help you improve your test-taking skills so that you can increase your score. You will prepare for the whole examination with practice tests and other activities. This is an intensive exam-preparation course, and you will be required to do regular homework assignments. -
EOP TP 047: TOEFL iBT Preparation 4
If you are preparing to take the internet-based TOEFL examination (iBT) for university admission, this course will help you improve your test-taking skills so that you can increase your score.
