The didactic and practical course of Facial Injectables is a natural extension of the biomedical sciences curriculum. Anatomy, histology, embryology, pharmacology and biochemistry are requisite to the theory and delivery of injectable treatment. This course provides a comprehensive presentation of facial senescence, sexual dimorphism, and neurovascular elements of the head and neck. The daily practical sessions reinforce the basic tenets of successful patient treatment: exploration of patient chief complaint, diagnosis, selection of appropriate treatment modality, informed consent. Building on the student's requisite knowledge of anatomy, embryology, histology and pharmacology, the course presents a fundamental framework for safe and successful injectable treatment. This program requires the student to fully integrate and utilize information from the biomedical sciences learned in years 1 and 2. Mastery of those foundational subjects affirms the evidence that esthetic treatment outcomes are derived from the elegant accrual of anatomical and biological sciences.
