Once the residents have completed both the didactic and hands on simulation (PE 810 and PE 811) they will be supervised in the placement of implants. The instruction will begin with a review of sterile technique and infection control then proceed with implant surgical assisting. The resident and faculty will review case selection criteria to select appropriate cases for implant placement. The resident will work with periodontal faculty to complete CBCT scan ordering, CBCT scan evaluation, selection of proposed implant and a full review of the planned surgery. Post-operative instructions as well as post-operative complications will be addressed and discussed with the faculty.
