QST SM 151: Creating Value in the Global Economy
Designed to provide deep immersion into the forces shaping the new global economy while providing students with a platform from which to practice the critical business skills of writing, oral presentation and persuasion. Using the World Economic Forum as a backdrop, student will engage in independent inquiry, writing and debate focused on the digital technology, social enterprise and sustainability and health and life sciences sectors of the new economy. Through in-class discussion, lecture and small group work students will become familiar with the concepts of value creation and stakeholder theory and develop integrative, critical thinking and persuasion skills. -
QST SM 208: Build Your Career Toolkit
This is the second course in the series of required Questrom career management and skills development courses. This second year class will build on the foundation established in ES110 and will teach students the tools and strategies necessary for obtaining relevant internships, experiences, and employment. Students will learn to craft a strong resume and cover letter, develop a search strategy, practice interviewing and informational conversations, and begin to network with Questrom students and alumni. -
QST SM 209: Explore Your Career and Build Your Toolkit
This seminar is intended to be taken by transfer students in their first semester as Questrom students; it is for students who have not completed SM108. Combines the content of SM 108 and SM 208. Provides an overview of individual career management. Equips students with the necessary knowledge, tools, and skills needed to build a foundation of career management capabilities. Students will begin to chart their career path, work with the Feld Career Center (FCC), practice interviewing, develop a search strategy, and continue to build their personal "brand." (Discontinued in 2016-2017, replaced by SMG ES215.) -
QST SM 308: Implement Your Career Plan
This course is delivered in a series of intensive workshops and required out-of-class engagement assignments that are designed to help students hone their skills and execute their search strategy to gain career-building internships or offers of employment. Students will enhance their toolkit and implement their career and internship search process. Workshops will engage students through teamwork and peer mentoring, and will focus on building networking skills, enhancing interviewing skills for targeted industries, exploring global and ethical perspectives, and building and maintaining a Questrom Career Community. Note: certain sections of this course are designated to have a specific focus on addressing the unique career planning challenges and needs of the international students and/or those seeking global careers. Students who plan to take SM308 concurrently with Cross-Functional Core should register for SM308 after being notified of their Core AM/PM section assignment. -

Taken as part of the Cross-Functional Core. Pass/Fail. 1 cr. -
QST SM 408: Launch Your Career
This final course in the career management curriculum is designed to prepare students to launch their careers post-graduation. It focuses on gaining employment by tuning up and enhancing students' career management skills in the areas of resume editing, online presence, offer negotiation and successful onboarding into a new organization and position. The course is delivered as a series of four workshops.
