CFA MU 091: Marching Band
The BU Marching Band is open to students of every major at Boston University. Composed of brass, woodwinds, drum line, front ensemble (pit), and color guard, the BU Marching Band performs an innovative and entertaining field show as a featured exhibition band at regional band competitions, including the Collegiate Marching Band Festival. Rehearsals are on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30--9:00 p.m., and performances are only on one day per weekend (see online calendar at www.bu.edu/bands). -
CFA MU 092: Concert Band
The Boston University Concert Band is a large concert ensemble comprising approximately 55 members from a multitude of majors throughout the University. The ensemble is open to all students wishing to continue making music throughout their collegiate years. The Concert Band performs a diverse section of the wind band repertoire ranging from traditional works to premieres and recent compositions by leading composers. CFA MU 093: Pep Band
The BU Pep Band is open to students of every major at Boston University. The Pep Band is the soundtrack of the arena at all home games for BU Men's and Women's Hockey and Basketball. Two pep bands of equal size rotate through performances, so students can easily find a substitute from the other band if they have an academic conflict. BU teams are perennial playoff contenders, and the Pep Band has many opportunities for travel to conference and NCAA tournaments. For more information please visit www.bu.edu/bands. -

The BU Jazz Ensemble (a standard Big Band) is open to students of every major at Boston University. The Big Band performs classic standards, hot new music, and everything in between. The Jazz Workshop is for those who wish to learn more about the art of playing jazz. This ensemble focuses on improvisation and education in the jazz style. The All-Campus Orchestra is a full symphonic orchestra open by audition to the Boston University Community. The orchestra rehearses twice a week and performs two public concerts each semester. Participation in the ACO gives student and BU community musicians the tools, experience, and understanding to appreciate music for the rest of their lives, either as discerning listeners or as participants in the vibrant world of amateur music-making. Auditions for all orchestral instruments are held in the fall with auditions at mid-year for any open positions. All qualified string players are accepted, but the normal composition of an orchestra dictates limited positions for winds, brass, and percussion. CFA MU 190: All-Campus Chamber Music
This course would provide an opportunity for accomplished musicians from the greater Boston University community to develop their playing in a small-ensemble setting in addition to their participation in the larger All-Campus Ensembles. Open to Non-majors. Majors seeking elective credit may also register with permission. Group placement will be determined based on the results of All-Campus auditions.
