An in-depth study of selected topics in the history of African art. May be repeated for credit as topics change. Topic for Spring 2017: Photography in Africa. A consideration of how historical photography influenced how the world views Africa. Also examines images created by contemporary African photographers in order to address how Africans have played an active role in confronting negative stereotypes and manipulating their own self-image.
