Advanced-level Greek seminar emphasizing close reading and literary analysis. Changing topics explore a variety of texts linked by chronology, genre, or theme. May be repeated for credit as topics change. Topic for Fall 2015: Isocrates' 'Panegyricus'. Reading, translation and literary as well as historical interpretation of Isocrates' speech (of 380 BCE) as a prime example of classical Greek oratory.
