Clinical Practicum in Art Education (4 credits, graduate students only; spring semester)
CFA AR 767
Graduate students collaborate with the Head of Art Teacher and Museum Education to identify a cooperating teacher in a Boston metropolitan area school or gain permission to return to either fall student teaching placement for an additional sixteen weeks of practicum experience teaching in studio classroom settings. Students negotiate teaching responsibilities, to include one grade level or course, with both their cooperating and supervising teachers, and accept full responsibilities for teaching. One lesson is also taught to students in the grade/course both preceding and following the grade or course for which the student teacher has accepted full teaching responsibilities. 600 clock hours is a general range for school attendance; the student teacher is usually fully responsible for studio teaching 300/600 hours.
