• CAS MA 684: Applied Multiple Regression and Multivariable Methods
  Application of multivariate data analytic techniques. Multiple regression and correlation, confounding and interaction, variable selection, categorical predictors and outcomes, logistic regression, factor analysis, MANOVA, discriminant analysis, regression with longitudinal data, repeated measures, ANOVA.
• CAS MA 685: Advanced Topics in Applied Statistical Analysis
  Continues topics of CAS MA 684 at a more advanced level. Canonical correlation, multivariate analysis of variance, multivariate regressions. Categorical dependent variables techniques; discriminant analysis, logistic regression, log-linear analysis. Factor analysis; principal-axes, rotations, factor scores. Cluster analysis. Power analysis. Extensive use of statistical software.
• CAS ME 101: Issues in Middle East Studies
  Mini-seminar to analyze and integrate students' coursework for the Middle East Studies major. Student presentations on relevant outside coursework, reading of foundational short works to introduce competing approaches to Middle East studies. Required of all Middle East Studies majors.
• CAS MR 391: Undergraduate Marine Science Research
  Research in marine science for students at the junior or senior level. Students design and implement a research project with a faculty member. Topic must be defined by time of registration. Course grade determined by performance and written report.

  Laboratory or field research projects chosen under supervision of a Marine Science associated faculty member. Research topic must be defined at time of registration. Course grade determined by laboratory performance, written report, and oral presentation to the faculty. Successful completion of the full 8-credit course (MR 401/402) may lead to a degree with honors in the major; credit does not count toward major or minor (unless taken during Marine Semester).

• CAS MR 510: Marine Science Policy, Resource Management, and Public Debate
  This course addresses how scientists can target their research toward policy needs and then effectively communicate to the public and policy makers so that science might inform public policy. Taught during the Marine Semester.
• CAS MR 533: Scientific Diving and Underwater Research Methods
  Introduces students to underwater research methods. Lecture and dive exercises include diving physics, diving physiology, dive planning, equipment, first aid, and data collection. This course fulfills American Academy of Underwater Sciences scientific diver training requirements. Taught in the Marine Semester.

• CAS MU 229: Masterpieces of Opera
  History of opera from late-Renaissance experiment through Handel, Mozart, Verdi, Wagner, Puccini, Berg, Stravinsky, Britten, Harbison. Emphasis on opera as a complex, multimedia genre continually redefining itself, its (often) noble aims conflicting with financial realities, inflated egos, a fickle public. Carries humanities divisional credit in CAS.
• CAS MU 230: Mozart
  Study of Mozart's work in major genres--sonata, symphony, quartet, concerto, opera--viewed in the context of rapidly changing eighteenth-century political and intellectual currents: equality vs absolutism, free-market economy vs aristocratic patronage, freemasonry vs the church. Origins of the "Amadeus" myths.

• CAS NE 101: Introduction to Neuroscience
  An introduction to the biological basis of behavior and cognition. Includes theoretical and practical foundations rooted in psychology, biology, neuropharmacology, and clinical sciences (e.g., neurology and neuropsychiatry). Neuroethical dilemmas are highlighted and integrated when relevant to discussion topics. Carries natural sciences divisional credit without lab in CAS.
