Immunity and Infection

Prereq: consent of instructor. The Immunity and Infection course is designed to highlight the application of basic immunological concepts and molecular mechanisms that underlie conditions of immune dysfunction and immune responses to specific microorganisms and viruses. Measurements of immune system integrity that provide the basis for diagnosis will be examined in detail. Immuno-therapies that encompass vaccine strategies, cytokine administration, bone marrow transplantation, peptide administration, oral tolerance, antiidiotype treatment, and gene therapy will be discussed. 2 cr, 1st sem.
