In this seminar, students will be introduced to the history of the discipline of ethnomusicology. We will discuss significant figures in the field, and explore a wide range of approaches and theoretical paradigms for the study of music and culture. This course provides a fundamental understanding of the discipline of ethnomusicology from its initial phases to the present. Open to graduate students in all disciplines.
