Acting Shakespeare

Description: An exploration of a variety of approaches to Shakespeare's text, looking to unify form and content. Developing and strengthening the voice and exploring the anatomy of language. Personalization of Shakespeare's text: embodiment of images and sounds through a tune-up of all the sensory, physical, and emotional responses to his words, phrases, and lines to serve the overall meaning of the text. There will be an investigation of figures of speech, iambic pentameter, rhythm, line endings, verse and prose through sonnets, monologues, and class exercises. 2.0 credits
