The Urban Business Accelerator Program provides the intensive educational value of a course with a unique internship experience. Students work in teams and are assigned to one client for a 10-week period. In those 10 weeks, you will be able to apply what you are learning in the classroom directly and immediately to the small business you are working with.

Working closely with the program faculty and Client Engagement Managers, you will have experiences that can’t be replicated from a classroom setting alone and is enriched through real-life interactions with businesses struggling to grow. Through the program you will get lessons and exposure to the following:

The program is developing students into socially responsible leaders and consultants. In order for the program to be successful for both student and small business, commitments in both time and team participation are made.



The following is the time that you are committing to the program each week:

  • 4-6 Hours in business
  • 6.0 Hours of classroom time with SMG professors
  • 4-6 Hours of off-site work
  • 1 Hour of weekly presentation on deliverables
