Kanta at Kalinga

Boston University presents a musical performance and charity concert by Filipina singing sensation, Joey Albert with the participation of local Filipino groups and artists following Gawad Kalinga's enlightening premiere of their movie Paraiso prior to performance at 1 p.m. Gawad Kalinga, a worldwide charity organization founded in the Philippines, means "to give care" and is an alternative solution to the blatant problem of poverty, not just in the Philippines but the world. The organization aims to build 700,000 homes in 7,000 villages in 7 years. This dream is quickly becoming a reality as third world countries find themselves out of poverty-stricken slums and into communities with shelter, food, education and livelihood. Proceeds from Kanta at Kalinga will go into building the third GK Massachusetts-sponsored village in the Philippines to be named as the "Boston University Massachusetts Village."
