MFA Appoints Alumna Christina Yu Yu as Chair of Asian Art

Alumna Christina Yu Yu (GRS '04) recently was appointed the new chair of Asian art at the Museum of Fine Arts (MFA) Boston, leading a team of curators overseeing more than 100,000 works of Chinese, Japanese, Korean, South and Southeast Asian, and Islamic Art.

Christina earned her MA degree in history of art and architecture at the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences, under the advisement of Qianshen Bai.  During that time she began her curator career as a graduate intern at the MFA.  Christina currently serves as the director of the USC Pacific Asia Museum, and previously worked at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art as an assistant curator of Chinese and Korean art.  She will return to Boston this summer and assume her new role at the MFA effective July 2, 2018.

“It is a privilege to join such an accomplished MFA team and contribute to the future of this institution,” said Yu Yu. “Masterpieces from the MFA’s Asian collection have sparked interest in generations of visitors—including myself. I look forward to continuing to bring art and people together in new and meaningful ways.”
