Computer Use

Whether you are using a computer in the library, research lab, teaching lab, or office, you are required to abide by the regulations of computer use at Boston University. The Computing Ethics Policy is posted on IS&T’s TechWeb site, but here are some general guidelines:

Boston University computers and the Campus Network are only for authorized work-related use, not personal or commercial purposes

  • Keep your passwords private and change them often
  • Do not use BU computers to send chain mail or offensive material
  • Do not download fraudulently or illegally obtained software
