8th Annual Student Art Exhibition
Gallery hours: Monday-Saturday: 9:00am – 9:00pm Sunday: 3:00pm-9:00pm 8th Annual Student Art Exhibition, "Colorful Textures: Synaesthesia in Art" Synaesthesia [sin-is-thee-zhee-uh] is a joining together of sensations that are normally experienced separately. Different textures, shapes, and lines can create a more vivid experience for people who experience synesthesia, yet applies to everyone's experience of art in how highly textural, colorful pieces leave more of an imprint on our minds; Gaugin's tropical blues, oranges and yellows of Tahiti, or Pip and Pop's sugary sweet installations of candy. These engaging works of art remind us that art can be an escape from reality, and that highly textural, synaesthetic artwork can lead us to fully experience this escape. Colorful Textures represents the antithesis of tedious, theoretical and academic work.
