Red robes. Black mortarboards. Graduates thrusting their hands in the air in celebration. That's the image greeting visitors to BU's Commencement Web site.
In college, Commencement is seen as a rite of completion, but its first definition is that of a beginning. A good start to BU's May 23 event is a visit to www.bu.edu/commencement. And for the first time in its history, Boston University will broadcast the main Commencement ceremony on the Web (www.bu.edu/commencement/webcast.html). Those interested will need to install RealPlayer G2 or RealPlayer 5.0. BU seniors might want to check out this link because it contains a running clock that counts down -- right to the second -- to the 11 a.m. graduation ceremony.
The Web site also contains such important information as directions, phone numbers of Commencement coordinators for each school and college, all the necessary dates, times, and places, and valuable links, including the weather forecast (www.boston.com/weather) and the BU Alumni Reunion Weekend Web site (www.bu.edu/reunion/).
Class of '99: the clock is ticking.
