John is a 2nd year Ph.D. candidate from Washington, DC. He graduated in spring 2022 with a double major in Chemistry and Philosophy from St. John’s University in Minnesota, where he conducted research on the environmental effects of fluorinated agrochemicals under Dr. Alicia Peterson. During the summer of 2021, he participated in the REU program in fluorine chemistry at the University of South Dakota researching frustrated Lewis pair chemistry with Dr. James Hoeffelmeyer. John’s current research focuses on vanadyl complexes for oxidative catalysis. Outside of the lab, John is an avid runner and enjoys traveling.
