{"id":31,"date":"2023-06-28T10:23:51","date_gmt":"2023-06-28T14:23:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/xcc\/?page_id=31"},"modified":"2026-04-21T15:42:38","modified_gmt":"2026-04-21T19:42:38","slug":"students","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/xcc\/get-involved\/students\/","title":{"rendered":"Students"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong><span>Course Information<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Are you ready for an immersive academic experience that empowers you to make a real impact?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Welcome to the Cross-College Challenge (XCC), an innovative project-based elective designed exclusively for juniors and seniors from all BU undergraduate schools and colleges.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">XCC is not your typical course; it\u2019s a fusion of disciplines, with each section co-taught by faculty from different subject areas across BU\u2019s campuses. Together, you\u2019ll venture beyond traditional learning to tackle a substantial real-world challenge or to unravel an enduring human question along with a community partner who\u2019s an expert in the course subject matter.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">XCC is a dynamic 4-credit course that satisfies the following <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/hub\/advising-and-the-hub\/hub-requirements-for-students\/\">Hub requirements<\/a>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Intellectual Toolkit Hub requirements in:\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Creativity\/Innovation, and<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Research and Information Literacy, and<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Teamwork\/Collaboration<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Communication (varies by course number)\n<ul>\n<li>Digital Multimedia Expression, or<\/li>\n<li>Oral and\/or Signed Communication, or<\/li>\n<li>Writing Intensive<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Each course may be found in the My BU Student portal under course numbers HUB XC 410, 420, 433 or 475. You\u2019ll hone the ability to examine projects from different angles while working hand-in-hand with external clients who are experts in your field of focus.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong><span>Career Readiness<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">XCC is designed to help you develop key competencies recognized by both the Hub and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.naceweb.org\/career-readiness\/competencies\/career-readiness-defined\/\">National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE)<\/a> as critical for career readiness, including communication, critical thinking, and teamwork.
