The\u00a0Simpson Undergraduate Writing<\/b> Fellows<\/strong> provide writing support to undergraduate students in many disciplines and courses. Fellows provide guidance on writing assignments, share disciplinary and writing knowledge, and help students to make their own writing choices. Simpson Fellows also serve as ambassadors for their departments and programs. We have twenty Simpson Writing Fellows working across more than a dozen academic disciplines in the College of Arts & Sciences.  <\/p>\n

Abigail is a senior majoring in international relations with minors in business and Spanish. Her studies focus on foreign policy and security in Europe. Originally an engineering student, Abigail has her own experinces learning to write for the social sciences and is eager to support other students on their writing journey. Outside of class, Abigail enjoys cooking, trying new Trader Joe’s products, reading, and watching sports with her roommates.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Adriana is majoring in History and double-minoring in Business and Creative Writing. Her primary historical interests are British industrialization and interwar political movements in Europe. She is especially passionate about writing, whether it be academic, journalistic, or creative. With historical writing, she hopes to strike a balance between storytelling and argumentation. Beyond that, she’s happiest reading, doing yoga, seeing concerts, and drinking overpriced coffees.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nInternational Relations<\/em><\/p>\n

Amanda, a senior majoring in International Relations with a minor in Innovation and Entrepreneurship, has a strong interest in international security and is currently writing her undergraduate thesis on political radicalization and diplomacy in Brazil. She is from Recife, Brazil, and is very passionate about sharing her culture with others. Outside of academics, Amanda works for the nonprofit organization BRASA, loves traveling, and is an avid sports fan, with Formula 1, soccer, and tennis among her favorites. She is happiest when spending time with her loved ones or celebrating her favorite teams’ victories.<\/spanhelvetica><\/p>\n

Amithi, a senior majoring in Neuroscience with a minor in Public Health, currently works as a research assistant in a learning and memory lab where she studies astrocytes. She is also the editor for the public health journal, United Against Inequities in Disease. In her free time, she enjoys crafting, playing the cello, and studying art history. She’s passionate about scientific writing and is excited to work with everyone throughout their writing journeys!<\/p>\n

Andrew is a senior majoring in Economics with a minor in Environmental Analysis & Policy, currently working as a research assistant for the Economics in Context Initiative at BU. His academic interests include sustainable research, urban development, and studying the long-term effects of environmental policies on carbon emissions. Outside of class, he enjoys skiing, cooking, and listening to new music.<\/p>\n

Anna is a junior studying behavioral biology with minors in psychology and english. On campus, she serves as the biology fraternity’s Omicron class educator. Anna also currently works as an undergraduate lab assistant in the Traniello Lab, where she researches brain metabolism among leafcutter ants. Outside of school, Anna volunteers at 826 Boston by editing and illustrating young authors’ stories.<\/p>\n

Ava Herzog, a junior on the pre-law track, is majoring in Political Science and Spanish. She enjoys writing as a way to learn from different perspectives, and she’s excited to study abroad in Madrid this spring. On campus, she’s a member of Alpha Delta Pi as well as several other student organizations. Outside of school, she loves to travel, try new restaurants, and spend time with friends.<\/spanhelvetica><\/p>\n

Ellie, a senior in the History of Art and Architecture department with a minor in Visual Art, is pursuing a future career in artistic practice or research. She is particularly interested in 20th century art and contemporary art theory. She believes writing is always best with collaboration and is an art form itself. Besides her studies and oil painting, she enjoys reading nonfiction, traveling, and watching movies.<\/spanhelvetica><\/p>\n

Emilia, a senior majoring in Political Science & Philosophy, is a core member of the Mind and Morality Lab, Co-Chair Executive of the Kilachand Leadership Advisory Board, and has studied abroad in Switzerland, Czechia, and Cuba. With interests in civil society, transitional justice, and social epistemology, she aims to apply strong theoretical grounding to interdisciplinary writing topics. Emilia also has a minor in Music Performance, and loves playing the cello in solo and collaborative settings.<\/spanhelvetica><\/p>\n

Gianna is a junior majoring in Political Science and minoring in Sociology. Her academic interests include inequality, comparative politics, and the ways social and political institutions shape people\u2019s beliefs and opportunities. Her recent research examines how welfare state regimes influence the relationship between meritocratic beliefs and economic inequality. Outside of academics, Gianna enjoys hiking, traveling, and exploring the city.<\/p>\n

Grace is a junior majoring in Philosophy & Political Science and recently graduated CGS. She is interested in Philosophy of Science, particularly historical women philosophers (her favorite is \u00c9milie du Chatelet!). Outside of class, Grace enjoys performing with BU\u2019s jazz band and her local Boston band CHUNK!. At home, Grace works at a local bookstore where she has been reading her favotite authors Zadie Smith, Michel Foucault, Toni Morrison, and bell hooks!<\/spanhelvetica><\/p>\n

Outside of classes, she currently serves as the National Chair for a biology fraternity, Beta Psi Omega, and volunteers with Boston’s Big Brothers Big Sisters mentor program. In her free time, Khanh enjoys playing basketball, rewatching her favorite shows, and trying new restaurants in Boston with her friends.<\/spanhelvetica><\/p>\n

Lilu is a senior pursuing a double major in Comparative Literature and Spanish with a minor in Anthropology. She grew up in New York City and loves traveling around the world with her family and friends. Lilu has always had a deep fondness for creative writing, namely historical and speculative fiction. At BU, she has studied Russian literature, Latin American literature, and German literature, among others. This year, Lilu is working on her senior thesis about children’s literature for first and second generation immigrant primary school students.<\/p>\n

Liv is a junior pursuing a combined major in Philosophy & Psychology with a minor in Film & Television. She is German, Norwegian, and American, and lived in New York and London before coming to Boston. Philosophy has always been a great passion of hers, and after studying biology for several years, she became fascinated by the study of consciousness and its place in the intersection of philosophy and science. In her free time, Liv loves traveling with friends, going to the movies, cooking, playing sudoku, and learning new instruments.<\/p>\n

Rachel is pursuing a double major in Architectural Studies and Spanish, with a minor in Urban Studies. She is interested in how cultural memory shapes people\u2019s relationships with place, a topic she explores in her honors thesis on historic preservation in El Salvador. Rachel is passionate about using her bilingual background to bridge perspectives in her research and empowering other heritage speakers to do the same. She has studied abroad in Venice and Madrid and serves as Head of Public Relations for LatinasBU.<\/p>\n

\nClassics<\/em><\/p>\n

Rae is currently minoring in Myth Studies \u2014 the program that led her to apply to BU in the first place! While majoring in Film and Television, Rae hopes to contribute to the growth and accessibility of the Classics community, whether students are taking Classics courses for a major, minor, or general credit. She loves storytelling of all forms and has previously interned abroad in Los Angeles and London’s film industries.<\/spanhelvetica><\/p>\n

Ricki is a queer Mexican history major with minors in philosophy and art history. They are particularly fond of social and cultural history, particularly spaces in which disparate cultures and religions meet. Ricki plans to attend graduate school. She is interested in Italian art with a particular focus on the Venetian Renaissance. She views writing as an essential skill developed through practice and collaboration with peers.
