{"id":17253,"date":"2023-10-02T16:23:39","date_gmt":"2023-10-02T20:23:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/writingprogram\/?page_id=17253"},"modified":"2025-10-02T15:16:00","modified_gmt":"2025-10-02T19:16:00","slug":"who-we-support","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/writingprogram\/the-writing-center\/who-we-support\/","title":{"rendered":"Who We Support"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The CAS Writing Center primarily provides support for students with assignments from CAS WR courses, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>CAS WR 111<\/li>\n<li>CAS WR 112<\/li>\n<li>CAS WR 120<\/li>\n<li>CAS WR 151<\/li>\n<li>CAS WR 152<\/li>\n<li>CAS WR 153<\/li>\n<li>CAS WR 212<\/li>\n<li>CAS WR 250<\/li>\n<li>CAS WR 318<\/li>\n<li>CAS WR 320<\/li>\n<li>CAS WR 415<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In addition, we support students with assignments from the following courses that fulfill the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/hub\/hub-courses\/communication\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">First-Year Writing and Writing, Research, &amp; Inquiry Hub units<\/a>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>CAS CC 101<\/li>\n<li>CAS CC 201<\/li>\n<li>CAS CH 112<\/li>\n<li>CAS CH 182<\/li>\n<li>CAS EN 120<\/li>\n<li>CAS EN 220<\/li>\n<li>KHC ST 111<\/li>\n<li>KHC ST 112<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Students with assignments from any of these courses can book up to one appointment per week using our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/writingprogram\/the-writing-center\/using-the-online-scheduler\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">online scheduling system<\/a>. You do <strong>not<\/strong> need to request an appointment via the same-day drop in form below.<\/p>\n<p>We do not provide support for other First-Year Writing and Writing, Research, &amp; Inquiry Hub courses not listed here, such as QST ES 275 and QST SM 275. Students in CGS courses are encouraged to use the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/cgs\/resources-for-current-students\/student-services\/cgs-study-centers\/\">CGS Writing Center<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><span>Some CAS departments and programs have discipline-specific writing tutors who can provide students with specialized support. For more information, please visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/writingprogram\/writing-in-the-disciplines\/tutoring-writing-in-the-disciplines\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tutoring Writing in the Disciplines<\/a>\u00a0page.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>When staffing availability permits, students in CAS courses can <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/writingprogram\/the-writing-center\/walk-in-appointment\/\">request a same-day drop-in appointment<\/a> in the Writing Center using this form. We respond to requests on a first come, first served basis as our staffing allows.<\/p>\n<p><span>If you need support for a non-CAS writing assignment, you are encouraged to use the<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/erc\/programs\/writing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span>Educational Resource Center<\/span><\/a><span>\u00a0<\/span>or<span>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/teaching-writing\/community\/writing-support-for-students\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">other writing support options at BU<\/a>.
