In this highly interactive workshop, we will explore culturally and linguistically responsive instruction by engaging in hands-on pedagogical activities, critical reflections and discussions. <\/em><o:p class=\"ContentPasted2\">\u00a0<\/o:p><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>3:30-5:00 p.m.: Invited talk at the CAS Writing Program&#8217;s All-Faculty Meeting\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>This\u00a0research-based, practitioner-oriented\u00a0workshop welcomes college composition instructors who are interested in working with students from culturally, racially and linguistically diverse backgrounds.\u00a0In this interactive workshop, we will learn about the importance of critical language awareness in everyday teaching and learning, and explore why and how to implement linguistically responsive instruction to better support our multilingual students. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/writingprogram\/files\/2023\/01\/zhang-wu-biography-1-433x636.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"433\" height=\"636\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-16459 alignleft\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/writingprogram\/files\/2023\/01\/zhang-wu-biography-1-433x636.png 433w, https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/writingprogram\/files\/2023\/01\/zhang-wu-biography-1-697x1024.png 697w, https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/writingprogram\/files\/2023\/01\/zhang-wu-biography-1-768x1128.png 768w, https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/writingprogram\/files\/2023\/01\/zhang-wu-biography-1-1045x1536.png 1045w, https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/writingprogram\/files\/2023\/01\/zhang-wu-biography-1-408x600.png 408w, https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/writingprogram\/files\/2023\/01\/zhang-wu-biography-1.png 1106w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 433px) 100vw, 433px\" \/><span class=\"ContentPasted2\"><b>Qianqian Zhang-Wu<\/b> is Assistant Professor of English and Director of Multilingual Writing at Northeastern University. Her research and teaching focuses on<\/span><span class=\"ContentPasted2\"> language, race and power in multilingual communication<\/span><span class=\"ContentPasted2 ContentPasted3 ContentPasted4\">. As a passionate writing teacher, Zhang-Wu is winner of the 2023 CCCC Outstanding Teaching Award. As a nerdy researcher, Zhang-Wu\u2019s articles appear in <i class=\"ContentPasted2\">TESOL Quarterly<\/i>, <i class=\"ContentPasted2\">Written Communication<\/i>, <i class=\"ContentPasted2\">International Journal of Bilingual Education and Bilingualism<\/i>, and <i class=\"ContentPasted2\">College English<\/i> among various other academic journals. Her recent book <i class=\"ContentPasted2\">Languaging Myths and Realities: Journeys of Chinese International Students<\/i> (Multilingual Matters, 2021) is winner of the 2022 Best Book Award at the Comparative and International Education Society (Study Abroad and International Students SIG), 2023 CCCC Research Impact Award, and 2023 CCCC Advancement of Knowledge Award Honorable Mention.
