{"id":15393,"date":"2021-09-02T16:36:13","date_gmt":"2021-09-02T20:36:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/writingprogram\/?page_id=15393"},"modified":"2025-07-03T12:08:45","modified_gmt":"2025-07-03T16:08:45","slug":"collaborations","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/writingprogram\/about\/collaborations\/","title":{"rendered":"Collaborations"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><strong>AI-intensive Writing, Research &amp; Inquiry Courses\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In Spring 2024 and Spring 2025, with support from he Shipley Center, the Writing Program and CGS Rhetoric will pilot AI-intensive first-year Writing, Research &amp; Inquiry sections with the goals of (1) <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">helping these programs understand how students use AI-assisted writing when permitted to do so; (2) <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">develop assignments, lessons, and activities that help students understand the benefits and risks of using AI as part of the writing and research process; (3) <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">informing program guidelines and pedagogies around AI going forward. View final presentations from Spring 2025 AI Affiliates with ideas for lesson plans and suggested in-class AI-assisted activities <a href=\"https:\/\/mymedia.bu.edu\/media\/t\/1_xvbok5kp\">here<\/a> (BU login required).<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span>Writing in the Disciplines (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/writingprogram\/writing-in-the-disciplines\/\"><span>WID<\/span><\/a><span>)<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span>The Writing Program works closely with specific departments to help them integrate writing into their majors in ways that are consistent with disciplinary perspectives and values. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/writingprogram\/writing-in-the-disciplines\/\">WID initiatives<\/a> include <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/digital.bu.edu\/product\/tutoring-writing-in-the-disciplines\/\"><span>Tutoring Writing in the Disciplines<\/span><\/a><span> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/writingprogram\/writing-in-the-disciplines\/tutoring-writing-in-the-disciplines\/\">TWID<\/a>), and <\/span><span>the WID Faculty Consultant Program, sponsored by Jennifer Simpson (CAS 2000).<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span>Kilachand Honors College (KHC)<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span>The KHC Writing Studio is a two-semester, themed course that introduces students to the college writing skills required by Boston University and the living-learning community of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/khc\/\"><span>Kilachand Honors College<\/span><\/a><span>.\u00a0 The Writing Studio courses require students to engage socially relevant texts, attend co-curricular events, and write and converse critically about those experiences. Several members of the Writing Program faculty teach KHC Studio courses. Writing Program faculty are also eligible to propose upper-level KHC courses.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span>Core Curriculum<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/core\/\"><span>The Core<\/span><\/a><span> is an interdisciplinary general education curriculum that focuses on classic texts and fundamental questions. The Writing Program has a long-standing relationship with Core. Writing Program faculty oversee the Core\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/core\/academics\/writing\/\"><span>Graduate Writing Fellows<\/span><\/a><span> program, teach sections in Core\u2019s series of humanities courses, and are eligible to participate in the Core Faculty Fellowship.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span>WP-CGS Exchange<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span>A limited number of Writing Program and College of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/cgs\/academics\/divisions\/rhetoric\/\">General Studies Rhetoric<\/a> faculty teach in each other\u2019s programs each year. Writing Program instructors participating in the exchange teach CGS Rhetoric 103 during the Spring term followed by a compact, dense, and fast-moving six-week summer term in London.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span>WP-CTL Exchange<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span>As a teaching program, the Writing Program collaborates with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/ctl\/\">Center for Teaching &amp; Learning<\/a> in a variety of ways.
