Senior at Boston University with a major in International Relations on the Middle East/Africa and International Systems and World Order Tracks, as well as a minor in Public Health. Banu loves thrifting, listening to music, rewatching comfort movies/shows, and talking about how she needs a guard cat to protect her from Boston rats. She has spoken six languages throughout her life and lived in three countries thus far, so something she’s most excited to do as a Pardee tutor is use her own learned experiences to improve your writing and understanding more naturally as a peer who has been through it herself!

Caroline is a senior double-majoring in Classical Civilization and History with a minor in Ancient Greek. Her research interests include the role of women in Athenian oratory and the influence of classical antiquity on later periods of history. On campus, she is the vice president of the Undergraduate Classics Association and a member of Delta Delta Delta. In her free time, Caroline enjoys hanging out in cafés, reading fantasy and sci-fi, and going to the MFA.

Derek, a senior majoring in history, is most interested in the history of the Soviet Union. Derek’s favorite aspect of historical writing is the development of his close reading skills. Outside the classroom, Derek enjoys lifting weights, golfing with his friends, and spending time with his dog, Mumford. After Derek graduates, he plans on attending law school.

Ella is a senior majoring in Art History and minoring in Visual Arts. Post grad, she wants to focus on European art, particularly 14th-18th century Italian art, however, she has found a new love for Modern and Contemporary art this past spring. Outside of class, Ella can be found in the CFA working on various projects or advocating for healthy relationships and ending domestic violence with her club One Love @ BU. In her free time she likes to dance classical ballet and spend time with her friends.

Emma is a senior studying History, Public Health, and Biology. She is passionate about the intersection of media and politics, which is evident in her honors thesis, where she explores how press censorship was used as a coercive tactic during the Guatemalan Civil War. Outside of school, Emma can be found at concerts, writing the newsletter for the Mental Health Committee, or enjoying time with friends.

Emma Claire is a senior majoring in English and History. On campus, she is a writer for Squinch, an editor of the Boston University Review, and secretary of Helping Hands for the Homeless. She also conducts research in the English Department and is an editorial assistant at AGNI Magazine. In her free time, she enjoys painting, concerts, and photography.

Gisele is a Comparative Literature major with a minor in Korean. She is an aspiring literary translator studying Korean and Spanish language and literature. Gisele is also the editor-in-chief of Alexandria, the WLL student journal. Outside of academics, she is a big fan of window shopping, listening to music (especially from artists like Kali Uchis and NewJeans), and trying new foods with her friends!

Senior double majoring in international relations and economics with a minor in the Core Curriculum. Jack is currently planning on attending law school after graduating BU. Outside of academics, he currently works as a course assistant for classes in the Core Natural Science program and on a research project on radicalization with Professor Jessica Stern. He’s excited to help with writing in the international relations field, and hopes to be able to engage in insightful conversations about topics he doesn’t have deep knowledge on.

Jonah is a senior double majoring in Philosophy and Religion, with a minor in Political Science and honors in Religion. His main academic interests are in early Christianity and the philosophy of religion. On campus, Jonah serves as the President and Editor-in-Chief of Arché, Boston University’s Student-Led Journal of Philosophy. In his free time, he enjoys reading, practicing the piano, and studying ancient Greek.

Lila is a senior studying Comparative Literature and Spanish with a minor in Visual Arts. She is particularly interested in the fields of Latin American women’s literature and children’s books. Beyond her majors, Lila is also involved in the Daily Free Press as the Graphics Editor, and the Director of SUN, a volunteering, advocacy, and fundraising organization. She is also passionate about community service and education.
