Bio

Stephen B. Hodin has been teaching in the Writing Program since 2009. His courses include “American Manifestos” and “Visions of Technology & Society.”   With an interdisciplinary degree in American Studies, Dr. Hodin’s interests include American cultural studies, American literature, labor and technology studies, and race theory.  His research has focused on such figures as Thomas Jefferson, Herman Melville, Harriet Jacobs, and William Wells Brown.  He has published articles in the Journal of the Early Republic and ESQ and is currently at work on a project that involves Walt Whitman and humanitarian reform during the Civil War.
