They&#8217;ll be directed to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/writingprogram\/schedule\">www.bu.edu\/writingprogram\/schedule<\/a> to view descriptions. You can view your topic title and description for the upcoming\/current semester there.<\/p>\n<p><span><b>Topic Guidelines\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<ul data-editing-info=\"{&quot;orderedStyleType&quot;:1,&quot;unorderedStyleType&quot;:1}\">\n<li><span>Topic titles have a max of 30 characters including spaces.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>Topic titles should make the basic subject clear to students. <\/span><span>Note that topic titles will appear on student transcripts.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>Titles must be unique unless instructors are teaching the exact same topic with the same description. If you submit the same title as someone else, you&#8217;ll be asked to differentiate the titles.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>Topic descriptions should be 100 <em>words<\/em> max. <\/span><span>If you have been using a 1-2 sentence description, please expand it. More detailed descriptions attract more enrollments.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>Use present tense\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>Avoid very narrowly focused\u00a0<span data-markjs=\"true\" class=\"markbsdfj1b7p\" data-ogac=\"\" data-ogab=\"\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"\">topics<\/span>\u00a0(ex.\u00a0<span data-markjs=\"true\" class=\"markbsdfj1b7p\" data-ogac=\"\" data-ogab=\"\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"\">topics<\/span>\u00a0about a single author&#8217;s work only)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>Avoid specialized language and jargon (keep a first-year student reader in mind)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>Use &#8220;we&#8221; when referring to students (ex. &#8220;We\u00a0explore&#8221;)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>Delete lists of specific texts. Those are no longer required.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>Include only description of the topic subject and not of the types of assignments all WR courses of that level share (ex. you can cut &#8220;we do an oral presentation&#8221;
