CURA Summer Institute: Globalizing Religions

Covering the major religious traditions, the seminar will focus on two questions: How has each tradition reached out globally? And has it contributed to conflict or to conflict resolution? All sessions will take place at the Institute, mornings 9AM-noon and afternoons 2- 4PM Week 1 Monday, June 14: Globalization and Religion Peter Berger, Boston University; Tuesday, June 15: Evangelical Protestantism Michael Cromartie, Ethics and Public Policy Center; Wednesday, June 16: Islam Robert Hefner, Boston University; Thursday, June 17: Mainline Protestantism John Berthrong, Boston University Friday, June 18: Eastern Christian Orthodoxy Chris Marsh; Baylor University Week 2 Monday, June 21: Roman Catholicism Jo Renee Formicola, Seton Hall University; Tuesday, June 22: Judaism Ilan Troen, Brandeis University; Wednesday, June 23: Buddhism David Eckel, Boston University; Thursday, June 24: Hinduism Tulasi Srinivas, Emerson College; Friday, June 25: Wrap-up discussion with Peter Berger; followed by lunch noon-1pm.
