His research is focused on the causes and consequences of the global obesity epidemic and developing novel approaches to combating obesity at the population level through interventions that target aspects of the social and physical environment.<\/span><\/p>\n

              \nBill and Fran will provide a preview of their forthcoming book on Chianti Classico. In their new work, they tell the story of this historic appellation located between Florence and Siena.\u00a0Refreshments will be served, and guests will have the opportunity to sample a number of examples of Chianti Classico.\u00a0Bill is a Senior Lecturer in Boston University\u2019s Elizabeth Bishop Wine Resource Center and is one of only 38 Masters of Wine in the United States.\u00a0Frances is an attorney with a\u00a0background in medieval and Renaissance Studies. The couple are co-authors of\u00a0<\/span>The World of Sicilian Wine (<\/em>University of California Press, 2013) which won the Andr\u00e9 Simon Book Award in London for 2013.\u00a0This event is free to members of the BUWG and $20 for non-members.               \nTitle:\u00a0Bikini-Ready Moms: Celebrity Profiles, Motherhood, and the Body

              \nThe requirements of \u201cgood\u201d motherhood used to primarily involve the care of children, but now contemporary mothers are also pressured to become bikini-ready immediately postpartum. Lynn O\u2019Brien Hallstein analyzes celebrity mom profiles to determine the various ways that they encourage all mothers to engage in body work as the energizing solution to solve any work-life balance struggles they might experience.\u00a0<\/span>Bikini-Ready Moms<\/i>also considers the ways that maternal body work erases any evidence of mothers\u2019 contributions both at home and in professional contexts. Hallstein theorizes possible ways to fuel a necessary mothers\u2019 revolution, while also pointing to initial strategies of resistance.<\/span><\/p>\n
