Dr. Khoury is a Master Lecturer in Arabic and the Head of the Arabic Language Program at Boston University. In this capacity, she oversees\u00a0 all aspects of the program and her responsibilities include curriculum, syllabi, material, and course development, course scheduling, assigning staff teaching schedules, instructor recruitment, methodological training and\u00a0 professional development of instructors and teaching assistants, and\u00a0 coordination and supervision of all sections.\u00a0 In addition, she advises and mentors instructors and students, conducts classroom observations, designs and coordinates all the extra curricular and cultural activities, ensures coherence and uniform standards within the language program, and handles any and all problems pertinent to the program.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Khoury has an extensive and diverse language teaching experience. She has been teaching languages to\u00a0 learners with widely varying degrees of proficiency \u2013 ranging from beginners to advanced levels \u2013 and of varying ages, linguistic backgrounds, and cultural heritages.<\/p>\n<p>For several years Dr. Khoury has initiated and run a federally funded National Security Language Initiative project at Boston University as Principle Investigator and Program Director of the Academy for Arabic Teachers: STARTALK Arabic Teacher Professional Program, which has run each summer at BU from 2009-12.
