{"id":2120,"date":"2012-09-13T08:26:53","date_gmt":"2012-09-13T12:26:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/wll\/?p=2120"},"modified":"2021-09-08T16:00:15","modified_gmt":"2021-09-08T20:00:15","slug":"canclini-lic-talk-tonight-at-mfa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/wll\/2012\/09\/13\/canclini-lic-talk-tonight-at-mfa\/","title":{"rendered":"Canclini LIC Talk at MFA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The first Lectures in Criticism talk this year is soon, at an unusual time, and at an unusual venue. \u00a0Please take note!<\/p>\n<p>Nestor Garcia Canclini will be speaking at the Museum of Fine Arts at 6:30 pm on Thursday, September 13. \u00a0The title of his talk is &#8220;Creatividad precaria: los jovenes en una cultura postindustial \/ Precarious Creativity: \u00a0Youth in a Post-industrial Culture.&#8221; \u00a0Enter the museum, 465 Huntington Avenue, at the Huntington Street entrance to receive a free ticket for the event. \u00a0A reception will follow the lecture.<\/p>\n<p>The event was scheduled a little later than usual so that those attending the English department reception at 4:30 pm that day could also attend the lecture. \u00a0Note to anyone who carpools audience members to the MFA: \u00a0Lectures in Criticism will reimburse your parking fees so save your receipt.<\/p>\n<p>The Museum of Fine Arts stays open until 9:45 pm that evening if you want to stay on and appreciate the art. \u00a0There are three different dining options available at the museum. \u00a0See\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mfa.org\/\">www.mfa.org<\/a> for more information.<\/p>\n<p>Nestor Garc\u00eda Canclini is an Argentine anthropologist and academic who has taught at the University of Texas Austin, Duke, Stanford, as well as universities in Barcelona, Buenos Aires, and S\u00e3o Paulo.
