The BU Undergraduate World Languages & Literatures Association (BUWA) aims to bridge the gap between students spread out across the department, as well as to facilitate the communication between undergraduates and faculty. Being a resource for students looking to further their academic and\/or career-oriented goals is also one of our priorities. We like to think of our group as a meeting point for all students passionate about good books, foreign languages, and discovering a global community.<\/p>\n

Come to our meetings every Tuesday at 7:00 pm in STH 318<\/strong> to learn more about what we do. We decide each meeting’s topic or activity as a group at the end of the previous meeting- previous topics include “Global Music,” “Lost in Translation,” “Haiku Workshop,” “Babel Book Club,” and “Idioms Around the World.”<\/p>\n

For our first movie night of the Fall 2024 semester, we showed the 1977 Japanese movie “House” and donated ticket sales to Gardner Pilot Academy, a K-12 school in Allston, to help fund their underserved library. While many of our movie nights have shown movies related to and in support of a cause\u00a0our members feel passionate about (last semester our sales went to the Sudanese American Physicians Association’s\u00a0“Hope for Sudan” Fund),\u00a0<\/span>please let us know of any movies you want our club to enjoy together just for fun too!<\/p>\n

We also have a student publication related to the department, Alexandria<\/em>, which you can find more about here<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n
