Dr. Moore teaches and supervises graduate students in the Sport Psychology program. She is an AASP Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC) and AASP Approved Mentor. As a committed scientist-practitioner, her developmental and social perspectives of applied sport psychology have informed quantitative and qualitative research projects exploring preservice coach philosophies, perceived parental influence on adolescent athletes&#8217; self-handicapping and goal orientations as well as sport stress and enjoyment, the interaction of basic psychological needs and self-theories of ability and their prediction of collegiate athletes\u2019 self-handicapping, and a test of high school athletes\u2019 personal theories of character development in sport. More recent projects and interests include a critical analysis of motivational theories and postulates in sport psychology and an experimental replication of Jones and Berglas\u2019s 1978 seminal study on self-handicapping with athletes.<\/p>\n<p>Before coming to BU Wheelock, Dr. Moore was a lecturer in psychology and neuroscience at Boston College, where she taught courses in sport and exercise psychology, motivation, research methods, and sport-based youth development and mentored students in the Social Psychology of Sport and Physical Activity Lab. She also served on the Athletic Advisory Board and as part-time faculty in the Woods College Masters in Sport Administration and the Lynch School Mental Health Counseling degree programs.
