Her research focuses on the linguistics of American Sign Language, with a particular interest in phonetics, phonology, iconicity, and how these properties interact with one another. She <span>was awarded <\/span><span>a postdoctoral fellowship <\/span><span>award <\/span><span>from the National Science Foundation<\/span><span>\u2019s Directorate for Social, Behavioral, and Economic<\/span><span> Sciences<\/span><span>. <\/span><span>Her research funded by this award uses computer vision technology to document and compare <\/span><span>how sign production patterns differ between <\/span><span>varieties of American Sign Language.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Dr. Becker&#8217;s experience includes teaching linguistics courses at Princeton, Georgetown, and Gallaudet Universities, as well as an industry internship in AI translation between American Sign Language and English.
