Her research centers on scaffolding strategies that promote reasoning-based, collaborative discourse among linguistically diverse K-12 learners in mainstream classrooms. Her broader teaching and research interests include content-based language education, second language writing pedagogy, and teacher education.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Dr. Mikelis also serves as an ELL instructional coach in a high school setting, where she offers professional development and collaborates with educators to create equitable and inclusive learning environments for multilingual learners through research-based, culturally responsive practices. She is passionate about fostering inclusive educational practices that empower both teachers and students to thrive in today\u2019s diverse and dynamic learning communities.<\/p>\n<p>Before assuming these roles, Dr. Mikelis served as a preceptor for Harvard University&#8217;s Institute for English Language Programs for over a decade.
